Split Point Lighthouse, also known as Aireys Inlet Lighthouse, is a historic lighthouse located in Aireys Inlet, Victoria, Australia. It was built in 1891 and served as an important navigational aid for ships traveling along the treacherous Victorian coastline. The lighthouse stands at a height of 34 meters and its light can be seen 23 kilometers out to sea.
In 1919, the lighthouse was electrified and in 1985, it was automated and the resident keeper was removed. The lighthouse is now part of the Great Ocean Road tourist route and is open for public tours. Visitors can climb the 138 stairs to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views of the coastline. The lighthouse also houses a museum containing historical artifacts and exhibits about lighthouse life and operations.
Split Point Lighthouse is also notable for its appearance in the Australian television series, "Round the Twist," in which it was featured as the fictional lighthouse home of the Twist family.
